ARROW: WHO ARE YOU? RECAP

Picking up at the exact point of Arrow’s midseason finale, the première titled “Who are you?” reintroduced Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) into the mix. But not everything is, as it seems. Warning, spoilers ahead…

As it turns out, it’s not Laurel of Earth-1 but the one from Earth-2 called Black Siren that was seen in The Flash. At first Oliver took this Laurel literally at face value. Perhaps it was hope and regret that clouded his judgment. For Felicity, she seemed less sure but still quite happy to have her friend back. Felicity has been consumed by revenge following Malone’s murder while Oliver is trying to figure out how to bring down Prometheus. How does this Laurel fit in? She’s a pawn of Prometheus.

Breaking Black Siren out of STAR Labs shows just how far Prometheus is willing to go to break Oliver and his team. It continues to be very personal. The fight scenes between Team Arrow and Prometheus/Black Siren is only the tip of the iceberg but with it comes a lot of questions about whether this Laurel has any redeeming qualities that Oliver believes exist no matter what Earth she comes from. As for Diggle, looks like he’s going to have his hands full with Adrian Chase. A lot of signs point to Chase being Prometheus. I’m holding out for a deeper more emotional surprise.

Things are heating up on Arrow and after a slow start to season five, the momentum seems to be back in their favor. Add the return of Adrian Chase, the debut of Talia al Ghul and a new Black Canary in the closing moments of the episode and you have the ingredients that should close out this current season in a very big way.

May the Dork be with you,
