STAR WARS REBELS: STEPS INTO SHADOW RECAP

A lot has changed for young Ezra from the last time we saw him at the end of season two. Not only does he sport a new mature look, he has greater control of the Force and dare I say there is a darkness to him. Warning, spoilers ahead…

Saturday night’s season three premiere “Steps into Shadow”, had a little of everything. Ezra is given the task to break Hondo out of a Imperial prison where he displays the aforementioned greater and deadlier use of the Force. It is this display of unyielding and merciless power that concerns everyone around him. Especially when a still blind Kanan (voiced by Freddie Prinze, Jr.), found out that Ezra had opened the Sith Holocron that was discovered during last season finale. It is clear that the holocron has a hold on Ezra as the Presence speaks to him.  It tells him what he wants to hear. There is always a cost when it comes to the darkside. Sound familiar? Just ask Anakin.
As for Kanan, he has become somewhat of a recluse given his physical handicap. However he does seek spiritual guidance from Bendu (voiced by Tom Baker) who sets the Jedi on a corrected path.

The biggest thrill came with the appearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn (voiced by Lars Mikkelsen). Seeing such a prominent figure from the expanded universe was awesome and makes me eager to see what this season has in store not only for the rebels but also for all of us who are watching.  From the moment he appears on screen, we know Thrawn is not someone to mess with. We learn from Governor’s Pryce and Tarkin that Lord Vader is on a mission to destroy all remaining Jedi left in the galaxy. Grand Admiral Thrawn helps with that mission.
May the Dork be with you,

James aka “The Dork Knight” is a blogger and writer based out of Upstate New York. For James, it all started with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… when he dragged his mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. He lives and breathes nerd culture. James is proof that a Star Wars fanatic can be a passionate Trekkie as well. So much so James dressed up as Captain Kirk to the premiere of Star Trek VI in 1991 and still has the uniform. When it comes to Comic Books, Sci-Fi or Fantasy whether in print or digital, in the theatre or on my TV screen, I’m all about it and I love it.
